Great ideas Jenn! I'm going to have to try the batch idea. Sometimes I do freezer meals, but never done the batch thing.

We are picking up our hog from the processer this weekend that was raised by my sister's soon to be in-laws; it just makes you feel good to know where and how it was grown.

Emily-as a note, when boiling beef a lot of the flavor can go in the water-so make sure you season it really well with bullion cube, worcheshire etc, or else the beef might taste rather bland to you. Try a lb first and see what you think!

grace-I don't watch much tv anymore, I'll have to check out Robin Miller-I'd never heard of her!~

Sherry & M2F-batch cooking does rock! It is so great to just pull stuff out of the fridge and be ready to go. Totally takes the stress out of dinner time!

Ground beef has been just about the only thing reasonably priced lately. It's also one of the easiest things to 'freeze ahead.' We had meatballs a few nights ago. Last night we had a "Brown Sugar Meatloaf" that I had made and frozen two weeks ago. Isn't it fun to just reach in your freezer and pretty much have dinner on hand?

Thanks for the ideas! I do some modified batch-type cooking too -- it works out the best for us that way.

Have a great week,

Sherry

Love this post. I've done that sort of batch cooking in the past too, but like you, have been trying to eat out of the freezer and pantry lately instead. However, I am a huge fan of Robin Miller's show on Food Network. Her ideas for doing one meat cooking session on the weekend and then pre-prepping the meals for the week using that meat are very time-saving and quick. It's brought out the batch cooker in me again but I tend to do my own frugal method of her recipes, etc.

Love this post!

I had never heard of boiling beef! I'm always wanting to use beef broth, but hate paying for cans or boxes that have lots of nasty extra ingredients.

I'm excited to try this the next time ground beef goes on sale!
