No, it works with mommies and daddies too. We got so many boxes of chocolates and tins of cookies we are good until 2010. I've put them away unopened and when we get unexpected company or I need a quick all-purpose gift I'll break 'em out.

I'm doing this with my 8 and 10 year old. They get overloaded on gifts from the grandparents. I took everything that wasn't opened as of last night (Littlest Pet shop, Legos, K'Nex, art set, beading kit, computer games, and more) and put them away.
