I thought it would be a fun thing to do this summer to highlight some new and different blogs~~so I’m starting a semi regular “Blogger Interview” segment.
This week I’d like to start off this new segment by introducing you to Melissa Garcia of Red Carpet Mamas. Melissa is a friend of mine-we met over three years ago via the Walmart Mom program. She is the kind of bubbly energetic person who just lights up the room when she walks in-you couldn’t ask for a sweeter lady to know! A devoted mom to teenagers and a dog lover, you may already know Melissa from her extremely popular couponing site, Consumer Queen. Today we are going to be talking about her most recent venture-Red Carpet Mamas.
Melissa, what is Red Carpet Mamas all about?
As a mom of 2 I have always been a frugal person. I had this secret love for handbags and shoes but as a mom I felt it was more important to spend money on my children so I rarely treated myself. Now that my kids are older and that fact that I can now share my clothes with my teenage daughter you could say well, my closet has exploded. While I am still frugal in my grocery shopping and a few other areas, I have come to realize that fashion is just not one of the areas I am willing to skimp on.
The biggest problem I face as a young mom is that it’s hard to find clothes that actually fit you like a mom but don’t make you look like a mom. I mean seriously. I would kill for a hot pair of jeans that don’t show my butt crack but still covers that mommy belly that you get after having kids. On my quest to rescue myself from looking like my grandmothers grandma, I hope to help other mom like me fine their inner Red Carpet Mama.
When did you begin blogging?
I started in 2008 with ConsumerQueen.com, a money saving blog. I just recently started Red Carpet Mamas this year.
What are your favorite blogs to read?
I will be honest with you. Working full time and trying to keep up 3 blogs I rarely have time to spend reading other blogs but two that I would recommend to your readers are A Cowboys Wife & Mom Generations.
What’s your favorite blog post you’ve written?
I would say I had a lot of fun interviewing Chef Brian Malarky but I would have to say the funnest event and blog post I have written is getting invited to go to the Due Date Premier with Murphy USA and meeting Zach Galifianakis.
What do your friends/family think of you blogging?
My family loves it. They get to experience a lot of things that they might not be able to do otherwise. I wish I could work on them full-time but right now it’s just not in the cards. My friends think it’s very interesting they are always commenting about the photos I post to Facebook from my travels. I love most that I am able to give back to my community through my blog as well. Whether it be through products, fundraising or awareness.
Just for fun, what are your “guilty pleasures” in life?
Shoes & Handbags. You can also find me splurging on a mani and pedi on the weekends.
Where else can we find you?
You can follow Red Carpet Mamas on Facebook and Twitter. You can also find me on my other two blogs ConsumerQueen.com & MyRoyalKitchen.com
