Well, the kids have been out of school officially for a week-and it’s been total chaos around here.
What have we done in a week?
*We’ve gone camping overnight to beat the heat.
*I’ve mulched and weeded 3 gardens (well almost done with the 3rd-thats on the list for today)
*We’ve gone raspberry picking (7lbs for $22).
*Princess had a sleepover with her best friend camping out in the back yard complete with roasting marshmallows and sleeping in a tent.
*We’ve had kids friends over, we’ve had kids stay overnight at friends houses, we’ve had kids go to the lake with other kids, we’ve been to the pool twice and taken other kids with us.
*Princess made us a lovely dinner completely on her own (of course I monitored & educated during the process)
*I’ve done about 12 loads of laundry and taught both kids how to sort, load and run the washing machine (most of it was dried outside on the line).
*We went to a car show that Yankee Bill was showing one of the antique cars at.
*I drove to Syracuse (1hr away) for a doctors appointment.
*We revamped a broken lamp for Princess using Mod Podge.
*I made an ice cream cake.
*We hit the local antique store where I found some cast iron pans at insanely good prices (as in a Griswold and a Wagner each for $14.40)
*We went to the library.
*We went out for ice cream. Twice.
*I went to a wild edibles walk.
Basically? I’m exhausted.
What I haven’t done is blog much. Seriously, trying to live my new tagline “Frugal-Sustainable-Prepared” is taking up most of my time! (note: new tagline along with new blog design coming in a month or so)
But never fear, I’ve been taking pictures, collecting data, and have information and intent to write a bunch of new posts such as:
How to make chive blossom vinegar
Getting your kids to help
Cooking with Princess
Mulching Vegetable Gardens
Grocery Benchmark for June (I collected the data a while back)
Spinach Feta Pie recipe
Why buy local
Garden Update
Several Blogger interviews
Several book reports
Several “around the web” posts.
So you see, I haven’t forgotten you all! But honestly, if you are missing your updates on frugal life here at the Frugal Upstate Village Homestead–you need to follow our Facebook page. I usually snap quick photos and share things we are doing several times a day on there! Just swing by the Frugal Upstate Facebook Page and hit “like”.
And when the kids head out to morning summer camp for the month of July I’ll have a bit more time, and more importantly silence, to blog in
Promise.
