Readers Fashion Tips-A Good Tailor!

This one comes from Morgan of Piggybankraider:

Although it may sound counter-intuitive, a good tailor can truly be a frugal asset.

I possess mediocre sewing skills. I can sew on a button and hem pajama pants, but I’m not nearly skilled enough to alter a formal gown or take in a pair of blue jeans.

Those of us without sewing skills can really benefit from a good tailor, especially since a good fit is key to looking chic and fashionable. A good tailor allows us to purchase inexpensive clothing from thrift stores and consignment shops, but then get the garments “custom fitted” for as little as $7.

This is especially useful for fancy dresses, blue jeans, winter coats and other high-ticket items.

I’ve never used a tailor, but I think about it. Being short, but busty, I have to buy things big enough to fit across my chest–and then the sleeves hang over my fingertips. I look like I invaded my big sister’s closet at times.
There is nothing more flattering to any body type than well-fitting clothes! So, even though I’ve never actually used a tailor (and should!), I agree it’s a frugal expense!
