The 21st Edition of the Festival of Frugality went up a little late over at Wandering Indian Monk this afternoon. Then of course I got busy with life and kids, so here is a rare evening post from me. There were 21 submissions in the Festival this week (I gave it a by this time), here are a few that jumped out and grabbed me.
Adam at Adam’s Blog (creative name eh?) has an article on “4 Free Money Saving Tools”. He isn’t talking about software applications or spreadsheets but rather mental states like contentment and Diligence. I find thinking about why and how people come to be frugal just as interesting as the nuts and bolts way they practice frugality. Also, in the interest of teaching our children to be responsible and frugal some day I need to understand the why as well as the how.
At Political Calculations they actually have a calculator to figure out if compact fluorescent bulbs will save you money (and how much they will save you). If you are a numbers geek, you’ll love that one.
Mighty Bargain Hunter has a list of the Free Software he uses, as well as links to a few other blogs that have put up their own lists. I just love free stuff!!
Frugality as a Secular Religion is an interesting look at the frugal life over at Wenchypoo’s Warehouse. I thought her tongue in cheek comparison of WWJD to “What else can I do instead” was humorous but true. That is when I really accepted being frugal, when I started to think “How else can I do this without just throwing money at it?”
As always, there are plenty of other great posts, go and check them all out!
