A Few Technical Question for Bloggers.

Does anyone use a program to write their blog posts offline? I was reading about LiveWriter, but apparently there are some problems with the photo functions being blurry. I’d love any recommendations or reviews anyone has-freeware is of course preferred!

Also, I’m just a bit above the age of folks who are big on MySpace, but I was wondering if anyone has made an auxiliary page to their blog on MySpace, and if that has had any effect on their site traffic.

OK-back to our regularly scheduled frugality.

While I’m guessing this isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, I use Notepad to write blog posts and then drop them into Wordpress (and attach images, etc.).

For me, the simplest is the best.

I have no personal experience, but I think the author of TheSimpleDollar.com uses something to write offline and has posted about it in the past. Not sure how easy his archives are to search, though.

oh, here it is, Wordpress! I’ve heard good things about it from other blogging friends, now that I think about it.

I had heard about Live Writer over at MInthegap, but until I saw this post it never connected that I could write stuff offline. That would be a real benefit for me, since we have multiple people wanting to use one DSL line.

Part of the reason we have computer congestion is because, although we have decided to not do MySpace (their ads are not up to our moral standards), we are on Facebook. Somewhere recently, maybe it was Problogger, I ran into the idea that you can set up your Facebook to import the blog automatically. There is a bit of lag time.

I haven’t been on Facebook long enough to have it impact traffic, nevertheless, I like that my daughters’ friends have the opportunity to read the blog if they want to (they are unlikely to get to it often via any other way). I hope they will eventually start sending in pictures and participating!

If you join Facebook, I will be your friend. Oh wait, I’m already your friend. :)

Hmmm, I’m really looking for something where I can write several articles ahead of time, complete with pictures and links offline and then just upload them without having to mess around with putting the links etc in later. So I think notepad wouldn’t really work for that (right now I sometimes write in word, and sometimes write in draft mode on blogger itself).

Wordpress is another platform, just like blogger is a platform. Since Top 10 Sites, About.com and now Parents magazine all have links to this blogger address, I really don’t want to switch platforms, although wordpress does seem to have some great features. I’ve been considering putting a second blog up and may do that on wordpress, but then again maybe it’s better to stick all to one platform so all the blogs show up on one profile. . .

The Facebook thing sounds interesting, I’ll have to check it out. The reason MySpace is interesting to me is despite the the questionable content of some things on Myspace, it is one of the most widely used-so I’d be hitting the largest audience (I even read something recently suggesting that churches and youth ministries should consider setting up sites because of it’s prevalence in culture.)
