Several months back I was given the opportunity to review the Energizer Easy Charger. When Colleen from Classy Mommy asked me if I’d like to review another Energizer charger, I asked to review the Energizer Family Charger. Why? Because it’s a charger that not only charges AA and AAA batteries, but also D’s, C’s and 9 Volts.
I have never even seen D’s, C’s and 9 Volt rechargeables in the store, so I was interested to try them out.

To make a long story short: Loved the charger! Like that you can mix and match various batteries and charge them all at the same time. They do take a bit longer-from 3-7 hours depending on which type of battery you have. To me the long term financial savings and environmental issues* far outweigh the time factor.

I had an Energizer 15-minute charger that I used for my camera that died about 6 months after getting it. I was very disappointed. I ended up replacing it with a cheaper regular speed charger not from Energizer, and just bought more batteries, and constantly keep one set charged (actually two — one set of AAA for my radio/mp3 player and one set of AA for my digital camera). That charger works fine.
Possibly what killed my charger was my inverter in the pickup truck putting out too much or too low voltage when cranking over the pickup.
Andy-thanks for commenting, and sorry to hear you had that experience. Energizer is usually quite a reliable product~did you write the company and tell them about your issue? I’m going to make sure my POC sees your post (although obviously I can’t guarantee any response) You may have just had the bad luck to get a faulty unit, or it may indeed have been the inverter (although from my understanding you are supposed to be able to plug a laptop into those inverters, so I would think they’d be surge protected.). Either way, it really does make sense to have a couple of sets of the batteries so they can always be charged-especially for cameras!
I got an Energizer charger last year – just a regular one that charged 4 double A’s and after 6 months it went kaput. Walmart (where I bought it) wouldn’t do anything.
When I checked Amazon I found that charger had poor reviews so, now i try to remember to check there before i buy anything that takes electricity.

I actually just got a Family Charger to review for this month too… I am excited that this one unit will work on just about every battery our “toys” might need, with a 3 yr old and 1 yr old we end up going through the big sized batteries too. (Especially when Kyle was a baby in bouncer seats, swings etc that took the big C’s or D’s.)
