Tax time always seems to have more questions than answers, so I was thrilled when H&R Block asked me to host a 1hr live question and answer session with one of their tax professionals.

I don’t think I have any questions. I did look into if our health premiums were tax deductible and they are not.

My husband is an owner operater truck driver, could he do our taxes with this product?. We currently pay a tax preparer $450 a year to do our taxes. The fee for the tax preparer is tax deductible

We already filed our taxes this year so I was thinking that I wouldn’t enter until you mentioned that this software could be used next year:-)

“Journal of Accountancy” had this article about the “Tax Provisions in the Health Care Act”: http://www.journalofaccountancy.com/Web/20102724.htm. I wonder if H & R Block has any comments on if they expect the new legislation to affect an “average” tax payer and if so, how.

I would attend the question-and-answer session, but I’ll be in an accounting class at that time, taking an accounting exam.

When you’re employed as an independent contractor, what exactly can you deduct as business expenses? If you take the metro to the job site every day, can you deduct the metro fare?
Thanks!
