Hannah Montana Toy Review and Giveaway

For those of you who DON’T have a little girl between the ages of 6-12, Hannah Montana the Movie opens in theater’s today.

Seeing as Princess IS between the ages of 6 and 12 (8 to be exact!!) we are all about Hannah in the Frugal Upstate household. If you will remember, we even had a Hannah Montana birthday party last year. This year will be a craft party-but more on that another day!

So when the very nice Janice from Jakks Pacific Toys* contacted me and asked if I’d like to have a few of the new Hannah toys to review and then give away a few in honor of the movie opening. . . well, I was all over that like white on rice.

When the “Big ‘ol Box” came on Tuesday, it was like Christmas all over again. The first thing I pulled out was a Hannah Montana Wig ($11.99)-an item that Princess has been pining for. We tried it on immediately-although Princess sagely told me that to really have it look right I’d have to put her waist length brown hair up in a bun. How does she learn these things?

Next came the Hannah Montana Rockin Concert Microphone ($14.99). This thing can be used as a microphone to amplify the child’s voice (although not a lot), it can play 2 Hannah songs, you can use it to amplify the childs voice while playing the two songs (so you can “sing a long”) and lastly-but most importantly, you can record 10 seconds of your child’s voice (each new recording overwrites the last one).

Princess absolutely loves the record feature. She has been walking around for 2 days with the microphone glued to her hand, recording herself saying things like “Hello there!” and then playing it back over and over. And over. I’ve actually had to take the microphone away from her or send her up to her room to play with it to prevent myself from going insane.

Finally we recieved the Hannah Montana Rockin Lights Electric Guitar ($29.99). Not only does it play 3 different songs, but it has special effects noises you can add, flashing lights, and stickers/faceplates to customize the guitar.

Up for grabs is one of the Hannah Montana Rockin Concert Microphone ($14.99) and a Hannah Montana Quick Switch Doll ($24.99). I didn’t get one of those to review, but it is a barbie style doll that you can switch back and forth from Miley to Hannah by spinning the dolls hair around.

*These are the very nice folks who, when they made a shipping error and accidentally sent me 10 each of the cupcake makers and night vision goggles at Christmas, told me to keep them and donate them to charity. That’s a company with heart! I gave them to the Lions Club for the “adopt a family” program-which made a whole bunch of local families have a much merrier Christmas this year.
