Welcome everyone to the second annual “Improve Your Blog” month!
Last year I declared April to be “Improve Your Blog” month, and we spent the month (amongst the regular scheduled articles on Frugality) encouraging each other to work on (or start) our blogs and make them better.
Why an official event? Well, like many other organizing and “home improvement” projects, most of us with blogs intend to spiff things up, or clean things up–but then life intervenes and those plans get set to the side until “we have time”. Let me tell you, we never seem to have time!
So this month is to help me (and everyone else) spend just a little bit of time “re-arranging the furniture”, “dusting” and “decorating”.
How does it work? Well let me tell you, no worries, no stress.
1. Capture the “Before”.
Start by taking a couple of screen shots of your blog as it is now. Need help on how to take a screen shot? Just click on the link.
2. Spread the Word.
Grab a copy of this banner or button and post it on your blog, along with a brief post and link letting folks know that you are participating. You can join at any time during the month.
Make sure you remove the { and }‘s when you copy the codes below. I had to put them in so blogger wouldn’t read it as code.
3. Improve.
Simply work on improving your blog through out the month. I’ll be posting and article each week with topics to work on-You can play along or not, it’s up to you. I’m simply providing some inspiration and resources.
4. Review.
Every Saturday I’ll post a review of what I did for the week, along with a Mr. Linky where anyone who is playing along can link to their most recent review review. That way we can all check out each other’s work and give advice and encouragement.
It is not necessary for you to work on the topics that I post, or post a weekly review-but whenever you do, hop on over and link to it on the next Friday so others can check out your work.
5. Compete.
At the end of the month we will each post a full review of the changes we’ve made-along with before and after screen shots (it’s fine if that’s your first link on Mr. Linky). Then I’ll run a poll for a week for our readers to vote for the “Most Improved Blog”.
What do you win? Honor, glory, bragging rights, and a nifty “Most Improved Blog 08″ button to post on your sidebar. Who could ask for anything more?
