It’s a bloggy wasteland!

by Jenn @ Frugal Upstate on May 20, 2008

You know, I get so jealous when I hear Meredith talking about meeting with local bloggers. I don’t know anyone in real life who actually blogs. I would love to be able to get together with some other folks and just discuss some of the ins and outs of this bizarre hobby of mine :)

Last night I spent way too much time researching online-trying to find other bloggers in my local area. I searched blogger using every single town I could think of within a 1 hour drive, and found maybe 5 blogs that appear to be some sort of topical and somewhat regularly updated. I found a ton of abandoned blogs with only a single post. Sigh.

I found a lot of rambling student blogs in the college towns-but they were more along the “I can’t believe what Janie said, she’s such a tramp, heres a blow by blow description of our last fight” variety. Ick.

I guess that tonight I’ll see what I can find on WordPress.

I bet there are a lot more bloggers than there would appear to be. I imagine a lot of bloggers don’t ever really directly say where they live. I’ve never even made reference to the state I live in, much less the city. I think it could be generally figured out if someone read through my blog, but I know that just by searching for my city/state, I’m not going to come up in any searches.

So, there probably are closer bloggers, they might just be “hiding.” Good luck!

I live near you….and I’ll be strolling through your area on Friday morning on my way to Raleigh! Right down RT 81, as a matter of fact. I think it would be neat to meet up, if you wanted.

dreamy at gmail dot com is my email!

Try searching on Twitter- people are a lot freer with their locations there, I’ve noticed!
