Menu Plan Monday

The long weekend is completed and I have no more trips till after the New Year. I guess this is a close to a “normal” week as I’ve had in a long time. Then again on the “not so normal” front Yankee Bill has meetings 4 nights this week and Princess has Wrestling 2 nights. . . which means that for 4 nights I need to have dinner ready & eaten by 6:30.

We will most likely decorate the tree this weekend-Saturday I’d guess, and we have a family tradition of eating our German Kris Kindle Markt meal when we decorate the tree-Potato Pancakes & Gluehwein. Ok, the kids get cider.

Monday: Ginger Fish, Sauteed Chard & Rice

This will be my fish meal for the week. I use a super simple but tasty Ginger Fish recipe (it can even be done in the microwave). A big pot of rice will ensure plenty for Tuesday’s meal.

Tuesday: Chinese Chicken Wings, Sauteed Veggies & Rice

I still have 2 bags of chicken wings in the freezer that never were used when we went camping back in September. They were supposed to get used up at Deer Camp, but I think someone forgot :) My friend gave me a new recipe to try that is supposed to taste just like the Chinese Chicken Wings from take-out. If they come out well I’ll post it!

Wednesday: Venison Stew over Egg Noodles

I am planning on trying this Beef Carbonnade recipe from Recipezaar, or I could just throw some stuff in the crockpot.

Thursday: Spicy Thai Noodles & Carrots

This recipe for Spicy Thai Noodles is one of my potluck favorites-tasty, simple but unusual. Although you can add cooked chicken, peanut butter provides enough protien to use this as a vegetarian entree. This is my meatless meal for the week

Friday: Homemade Pizza

Using the Pizza Hut crust clone recipe.

Saturday: Fried Rice

This is a perfect “use up the leftovers” meal.

Sunday: Potato Pancakes, Applesauce, Salad & Gluhwein

This is one of our family traditions.  Yankee Bill and I met in Germany where we used to frequent the outdoor Christmas markets/festivals that are held in town squares all over the country during December.  One of the fest foods that we both loved were fresh potato pancakes and a glass of hot spiced red wine.  To remember and celebrate the start of our relationship we always make potato pancakes and have Gluhwein when we decorate our tree.

Sunday’s dinner sounds delish. I will have to google Gluhwein. I can’t wait til the day I hit the Christmas markets in europe! Especially Germany.
