I just love it when the folks from Rubbermaid contact me about a review and giveaway. They always have such great, useful products.
Although buying new isn’t as frugal as repurposing old yogurt containers, or buying mustard yellow 1970′s style containers at a yard sale (yes-I do that too!) there are some things that can be well worth paying for. Rubbermaid makes a quality product that you know you can use for years.
The item I have to review and giveaway this time are the Rubbermaid Modular Canisters. These containers are made to store bulk type items in your cupboards. Since they are rectangular and stackable, they can more fully utilize your space. And let’s face it-who has EVER felt that they have enough room in their Kitchen cupboards?
These canisters were designed to maximize the space you have in your pantry. They stack evenly to save space.
I was sent the “8pc” set to review. Of course it’s really 4 pieces, each with a lid.
The set includes a 5 cup, 10 cup, 16 cup, and 21 cup container.
These are attractive (I have a thing for red) and the lids snap on easily and securely. They hold a much larger volume then you would assume-the smallest one there holds five cups!
I have to admit-I did not use my containers to organize my cupboards. I know, I know. I’m just such a rebel! I have actually used mine in the fridge for food. When I made a big double batch of chicken pot pie filling that I needed to cool down before portioning out & freezing that medium sized container came in handy. One has become a nice see through “cookie jar” on top of my fridge-and I’ve been know to put homemade soup in the big one when I needed to refrigerate it. I can tell you from experience, these guys take up less room in the fridge as well!
So now on to the fun part-winning your very own 8pc set (retail value of around $25)!
This giveaway will run from Monday May 17th until Friday May 21st.

I’d use it to store the kids snacks!
I would use these to store opened packages of crackers, chips or cereal – I hate how my pantry gets overwhelmed with all of the open packages!

Hi. I would love to win this set. Anything to get my cupboards in order. Thanks.
I subscribe to your newsletter. Love it. and this product. Thanks.
I love these! I have the tiniest kitchen, so anything to make space helps me. I’m a subscriber!
I’d like to store snacks in the modular containers. My kids have a bad habit of opening more than one fruit snack box or more than one granola box. I could empty the snacks directly into the containers to keep track easier on what snacks I have and how many.

I would store cereal, crackers and cookies as they seem to go stale so fast. Susan
I’d store cereal, pasta, sugar, flour, the assorted snacks my kids always seem to open and then distroy the bag, and some of the odds and end in my car if there’s one left over.
I think that I would use them to store oatmeal, dried fruit, trail mix, and cereal! I could think of a million other things too!

I would use them to store things like flour, sugars, rice, pastas, etc. Actually I have a lot of the Tupperware Modular Mates already and they have held up great. I didn’t realize Rubbermaid had started making something like this also.
Chips, cookies, pasta, cereal, anything that needs to be organized!!

I’d store pasta, dried fruit, and other snack foods in my containers.
What wouldn’t I store in these? If I had matchbox cars I would stack them in here, if I had Legos I would use a big container for those, crayons or sidewalk chalk could be kept contained and dry, how about marbles they would look cool keep you from falling on them.I know their strong suit is keeping things dry and organized so how about storing like a guys tool box with nails/screws/wing nuts and every other do dad that can get away from us.And red ? who would not love that ? could be paired with red and brown color scheme for a masculine look in the garage or boys room, pair it with neutrals for a pop of color or go hip modern with black white or silver and then the red accent grrrrr. But alas I have none of the above cool toys or needs just a VIVID imagination and a frugal mind to use thes completely for a long long time! or give out individually as gifts!
cereal and snack foods…those boxes take up way too much space

I would store snacks like cookies or cereal in these containers… great size!
I would either use them to store some dry goods when I need to dump them out of the glass canning jars that I normally use. Last year I used every single canning jar in my house for canning and had to find other containers for the short time until some jars got eaten! Or I would use them to store some of the odds and ends of my scrapbooking that get out of control and all over the place!

Thanks for the extra entry,

I would store different pastas in them.
I buy bulk items from our local co-op like rice, pasta, etc. and would use them to store these items.
I subscribe to your newletter via Google Reader.
I would store things that I get a good deal on from the bulk bins, such as rice, lentils, split peas, quinoa, and oatmeal.
I subscribe.
Thank you for the report on these. I’m glad to learn about a product that would make fuller use of my limited storage space.
I would store all are kitchen pantry things in them..flour sugar, cereals, and lots more
These would be so great to store baking supplies in!!
I’d start with the rice and oats, and then move on to pastas so I don’t have all those odd bags and boxes around.

These would be great in my small pantry. I would use the 16 cup for my homemade granola and the remaining three for the ingredients needed to make the next batch. I follow with google.
I would store cheerios for my 10 month old. He goes through them slowly so if I don’t get them in some kind of storage they go stale.
