Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs-March

by Jenn @ Frugal Upstate on March 31, 2009

The fine folks over at Fire Finance have release their “Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs” list for March. Frugal Upstate came in at 46-so that’s in the top 50! Woohoo.

I am always so impressed that he does this list-the amount of work involved in simply looking up the statistics for all of the blogs included are staggering. . . to say nothing of organizing that data once it is all together!

Another great list is the Wisebread Top Personal Finance Blogs. Somehow on that one I’m all the way down at 104. . . . they use some different data and have a blank for me for one of the metrics which I’m sure has something to do with it. . . Again, the amount of work to create such a list is staggering-kudos to the team over at Wisebread for undertaking it!

Great job! I admire all your hard work.

I unplugged most of my stats and don’t appear on the Wisebread list, and the editors at FIRE decided I was a homemaking blog instead of a frugality blog : )

On a personal level I am finding it much easier to go about my day without the temptation to measure myself against others.

Meredith-I agree with you-sometimes measuring against others can be discouraging-and I know you’ve said before that you have a pretty good competitive streak :) As you can see with the difference in ranking between the two lists it can be rather subjective in many ways. . . but I like to keep tabs :) It also helps me to look at the other blogs who rank higher and see if maybe they are doing something that I could be doing to improve my blog as well. Some of it you just can’t help-some of the coupon blogs get massive traffic because folks pop by regularly for the deals, and yet they might not have a very big sense of community. I on the other hand have a good moderate traffic, but I really feel that I’ve gotten to know many of my readers and that we support and appreciate each other. KWIM?

FIRE-No problem! I might not remember to post every month, but I really do appreciate the work you put in. Even with scripts and spreadsheets to do some of the figuring, it still has to be a huge undertaking. Kudos.
