Frugal Food Series: Eggs

August 3, 2011 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 13 Comments

Welcome to the premier week of the Frugal Food Series.

We are starting the Frugal Food series with EGGS!

Not only are eggs a fantastic low cost, high quality protein–they also have a relatively long shelf life for a fresh unprocessed protien (3-5 weeks in your fridge according to the USDA Egg Fact Sheet).  As an added benefit eggs are  easily available pretty much everywhere.  Heck-you can even buy them at most gas stations these days.

Sure, you can use eggs as an ingredient in baking~but that isn’t really where they shine.  Main dish meals (breakfast or dinner) rightfully put the inexpensive, tasty egg at center stage.  I can’t wait to see what you all share!

Remember, you will always be able to find the all of the Frugal Food Series links at the Frugal Food Series Index!

Great series! I raise a small flock of chickens for eggs, so I’m always looking for new recipes to use them. Found this from a Tweet by Hoosier Homemade, looking forward to seeing what else you have in store.
