Oven Fried Sesame Chicken

by Jenn @ Frugal Upstate on July 12, 2008

I am posting this recipe for the Frugal Food Series: Chicken. I have my sister Vic to thank for this recipe, she introduced it to me while we were both on Weight Watchers back after Princess was born.

Oven Fried Sesame Chicken

Soy Sauce (for marinade)
4 skinned chicken breasts (you can buy bone in, then just cut the meat and skin off, or you can use boneless skinless thighs)
3 TBS Sesame Seeds
2 TBS Dried Wasabi Powder (optional, but adds zing)
2 TBS flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Nonstick Vegetable Oil Spray

Cut chicken into strips and marinate in soy for as long as desired (30 min to an hour is fine-or you can skip if totally crunched for time). Combine dry ingredients in a large zippered bag or tupperware style container. Drain chicken from marinade, add to container and shake until chicken is well coated.

Place strips on a sprayed cookie sheet and then spray them down with the veggie oil spray.

Bake at 400 for 45 minutes. Keep an eye on them-if your strips are really thin they may be done sooner.

These really do come out almost fried. Yummy!

How many Points a serving or calories per serving?
Looks like a good recepie to try.

Hmm, I’ll have to ask Vic about the points per serving. It isn’t much-pretty much just the points of the chicken since the flour and sesame seeds are so minimal.

I abandoned the Points system long ago, Cici! I have no idea…
