Recipe: Chinese Takeout Style Chicken Wings

by Jenn @ Frugal Upstate on December 10, 2009

Chicken wings are one of the cheapest cuts of chicken out there-but you can only eat so many hot wings! For your next party, football game, potluck or even dinner-try making these restaurant clones-Chinese Takeout Style Chicken Wings.

Chinese Takeout Style Chicken Wings

3 Lbs Chicken Wings
3/4 C Soy Sauce
3/4 C Brown Sugar
1/4 C Oil
1/2 tsp Ginger Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

Combine all ingredients.
Marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
Remove from marinade and bake at 350 for 1 hr.
Variations:

Add 2 cloves of fresh chopped chopped garlic.
Use low sodium soy sauce.
Substitute any other inexpensive cut of chicken for the wings-thighs, drumsticks etc.
Use as a marinade for Turkey or Pork.
Grill instead of baking.
For “sticky” wings bake in the marinade.

Crockpot Variation: Do not marinate.  Brown the wings (either in a frying pan in batches or in a roasting pan under the broiler).  Combine browned wings with marinade ingredients in the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hrs.  For dryer wings remove the lid for the last 45 min to an hour

If this is a dup, I apologize – didn’t seem to take the first time :)

Just wanted to THANK YOU BIG TIME for this recipe. We had a similar one when I was a kid and it got lost. This looks so close to it I’m going to make sure I save it AND share it with my kids. Thank you. :) :) :)
