Arm & Hammer Baking Soda is something no frugal household should be without!
Seriously-there are just so many fantastic uses for baking soda! This one inexpensive and non toxic (edible in fact) item can be used in place of many other products. Here are just a few things I’ve used it for over the years:
As a leavening agent in cooking/baking.
For deodorizing the fridge, disposal, bottom of the trash can and inside of stinky shoes.
As a super mild scrubbing cleanser.
For a foamy science project volcano. (Vinegar + Baking Soda = Foamy Fun)
As a tooth paste alternative, although you may want to add a bit of peppermint extract.
For freshening your carpet-sprinkle, wait & vacuum.
Mixed with milk and water to combat powdery mildew on in the garden.
In this campaign I learned Arm and Hammer Baking Soda is even more useful than I realized. They not sent me not only the product samples above (Hell0! Cool shaker jar! Why hasn’t anyone thought of that before?!) but also some interesting new ways to use it to help with my holiday preparation and pampering. Here are just a few that I had never heard before:
Wash Your Fruits and Vegetables:
ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda is the food-safe way to clean dirt and residue off fresh fruit and vegetables. Sprinkle a little baking soda on a clean damp sponge, scrub and rinse. For soft-skinned produce, sprinkle baking soda in a bowl of water. Add produce, agitate, and rinse.
Polish Your Jewelry:
Make sure your special holiday jewelry sparkles as much as your smile by shining with baking soda. Clean gold and silver jewelry with three parts ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda to one part water. Rub on gently, then rinse and buff with a soft cloth. Shine platinum jewelry by buffing with dry ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda.
Show Off Locks that Rock: Hair Care Help
Get rid of product buildup by sprinkling a small amount (quarter-size) of ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda into your palm along with your favorite shampoo. Shampoo as usual and rinse thoroughly. The ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda helps remove the residue that styling products leave behind so your hair is cleaner and more manageable.
So what ways do you use baking soda?
