Do you exercise? I always mean to do more. My big form of exercise (besides gardening) is walking. There is a nice two mile loop in our town that is level with sidewalks 95% of the way. Almost everyone in town takes walks around “the loop” at lunch or after supper from spring to fall.
When I’m walking there are two things that really annoy me. Well, three if you count the dog pulling–although that’s gotten better since we started using the Sporn Stop Pulling Harness. That’s my shorts riding up (between the legs) and sweat rolling down my back. Ick.
Walmart’s new Avia sportswear / workout gear addresses both of these problems for me. I was lucky enough to be chosen to try out some of the Avia performance sportswear–and I really like it.
First are the Avia workout capri’s. These are form fitting like the old “bike shorts”–but longer coming down a few inches below my knees. They completely fixed the whole “riding up” thing, and cost under $15 a pair.
They are made of a performance “moisture wicking” fabric, so they help pull sweat from the body to the outside of the fabric where it can evaporate. Plus I thought they looked pretty cool.
I also purchased a long sleeve and short sleeve t shirt to wear with the capris. The Avia Performance V Neck with short sleeves came in a bunch of nice colors–I really liked the turquois and thought it would go well with the black and gray capris. The v neck on the shirt is attractive on most women (at least I think it is) and it’s also made of moisture wicking fabric–so that should help with the “sweat rolling down your back” issue, at least a bit. Best of all, it cost under $9, which is a fantastic price for a tee made out of performance fabric like that.
Much of my walking is done in cooler weather–the long cool spring we have here in the Northeast or in the chilly fall weather. So a longer sleeved shirt is a good exercise option. The Avia Performance Hoodie looks so cute in the purple, I couldn’t resist. For just under $13 I considered buying two. I have a feeling that this shirt will be worn in the fall even when I’m not exercising!
I really love how the scoop neck looks on–I think it’s a pretty neckline. There was another fun little detail on this shirt (besides again being made of the performance fabric)–it’s got thumb holes in the sleeves! You can wear the sleeves pushed up around your wrist like regular sleeves or pull them down and put your thumb through for a sort of fingerless glove type feeling.
I think the hood is very cute hanging down in the back, but to be honest with the width of the scoop neck I wasn’t really thrilled with how it looked up. If it was cold or started to drizzle and I didn’t have a hat on, I probably wouldn’t care how it looked and would be glad to have it.
My little four legged helper didn’t express an opinion at all on what I was wearing
