How to Make Mummy Dogs

September 27, 2012 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 3 Comments

I love it when you can take something simple and make it look fun for the kids.  This Halloween “Mummy Dog” project is like that.  It turns a simple weeknight meal into something fun and fantastic!  It would also be great to send along for a Halloween week lunch.

Hot dogs.  Crescent rolls.  Cheese.  That’s it.

It’s all about how you put them together!  Seriously folks-this is so easy I can’t even call it a recipe.  I got the directions for the Crescent Mummy Dogs on the Pillsbury website, and it’s really, really simple.

Open crescent rolls and pinch seams together to make a big sheet.  Cut into thin strips with a nice sharp knife.  Fold cheese into thin pieces.  Put cheese behind hotdog, wrap thin strips of crescent roll around it.  Make sure you leave a gap for the “face” so you can add some eyes later.

Put it on a cookie sheet and bake 15-17 min at 375.

That’s it!  Just add a couple of drops of mustard or ketchup for the eyes and you are done.

(You probably could try this with some homemade biscuit dough rolled out thin and cut into strips-but I haven’t actually tried that.)

Do you need the cheese to make the biscuit dough stick? (My kid has decided to turn “anti-cheese” lately.)

Joanna-you can leave the cheese off-actually in the photo one of the dogs has cheese, one doesn’t. 🙂
