Ahhh, the age of 18″ dolls. I remember when we were there. For a stretch of time what Princess wanted more than anything in the world was a specific brand of highly touted 18″ dolls. Grandma caved, and she got one. Honestly? I would NEVER have spent $120 on a character doll with just a few simple accessories.
So what do you do if your child, grandchild, favorite niece or the kid you picked from the Angel Tree at Christmas is just DYING for an 18″ doll? Never fear–there is a far more economical option out there! Walmart carries the “My Life as” dolls–and they offered to send me the My Life as “Doll of the Year”–the Dog Walker– to take a look at and share with all of you.
She is lovely, with eyes that close, moveable arms and legs, and a soft body. Her hair is soft and shiny. Her outfit is adorable with fur lined boots, leggins and a fuzzy poncho. She comes not only with 3 little plush dogs and their leashes, but also with dog accessories like a brush, dog treats, chew bones and a dog walking checklist!
At that other place, a plain doll is $115. The “dog walking” set with three stuffed dogs and couple of leashes is $38. That’s right–you can get the My Life as Dog Walker Doll for just a little more than buying the DOGS.
And there are plenty of other dolls and accessories available–they come in two skin tones and several hair shades. Here is a little video (47 sec) showing you some of the fun dolls, clothing and accessories that are in the “My Life as” line.
When it was time to test out the doll Princess wasn’t that enthused. She’s 14 now and far more interested in picking out a homecoming dress than playing with dolls. That’s ok though, because I have nieces that were up visiting at Grandma’s (my mom) to act as my product testers!
The 6 year old thought the doll was so pretty, and was really excited to have a chance to play with her while visiting Grandma. Look at that grin.
Little sister, who is 3, was immediately drawn to the stuffed doggies. Of course being 3, it was hard to get this little perpetual motion machine to sit still long enough to snap a photo. She LOVED the little brown dog and played with it the whole visit.
I mean, could you find any cuter little product testers in the whole world? I think not. Not that I’m a doting auntie or anything. . .
The My Life as line is not just dolls–it’s also clothing, accessories, pets, vehicles, furniture. You name it, they’ve got it. . . and at very reasonable prices. Of course they are the standard 18″ doll size, so even if you already have a doll, you could really save yourself a bundle by purchasing clothing and accessories. You can get two full outfits for $20.
So as you are preparing for your holiday shopping this year, don’t forget about My Life as dolls and accessories. You can buy it now at Walmart and put it on layaway to pick up closer to the holiday.
As a bonus, if you’ve never had an 18″ doll before, “My Life as” made this nice little video teaching you how to care for your doll’s hair. Because let me tell you, if you don’t take care of it, you can wind up with a tangled mess 🙂
