Have you heard about the new line of skincare products by “Simple-the sensitive skin experts” now available at Walmart?
Simple is the UK’s #1 skincare line, and it is now available on “our side of the pond” Their philosophy? Never use dyes or artificial perfumes that can upset your skin and settle for only the purest possible ingredients. Also the products are all dermatologist tested, noncomedogenic, and hypoallergenic. Sounds good, right?
Now personally I’m lucky-sensitive skin has never particularly been an issue for me. I inherited the slightly oily Italian skin from my mom. We might be prone to a few pimples, but it keeps our skin supple-not a lot of wrinkles on that side of the family!
Princess on the other hand has always had a bit more delicate skin. As she heads on into puberty, I am glad that there is a reasonably priced, time tested, sensitive skin option available.
Wanting us to actually test and review the items that were most useful to us, Walmart and Simple sent me a giftcard so I could choose my own products from the
The Exfoliating Facial Wipes are a pre-moistened disposable wipe. You just peel up the label, pull one out and wipe. There isn’t much smell to them at all-which I appreciate as a migraine sufferer. The cloth didn’t feel rough at all, which surprised me-I had wondered if “exfoliating” equaled “sandpaper”. The wipes felt cool and refreshing and seemed to have no problem removing makeup residue from my face.
These seem like a great product to keep in your travel bag or desk-or even to take to the gym. You can use them anyplace without needing a sink and a towel. I can also imagine that in the summer keeping these in the fridge might provide an extra fresh and cooling feeling!
The second product that I tried was the Vital Vitamin Day Cream. Although my Italian skin tends to be more oily than dry-my Mom impressed upon me at an early age how important both moisturizing and using a sunscreen are-and this cream is an SPF 15. The lotion also had a very very light smell-which I find a relief from all the cloying perfumes in use today for cosmetics. The cream itself went on light and absorbed quickly.
The final product I chose was the Revitalizing Eye Roll On. For those of you who don’t know, I’m turning 40 this week. Blech. And one of the two things that really seem to give away a lady’s age is her eyes (the other is the hands). So birthdays and aging have me thinking about keeping my eyes-and the skin around my eyes-young and healthy looking.
The roll on is made from cucumber extract and “vitamin goodness” and is meant to help reduce puffiness and to wake up tired eyes by cooling and gently massaging the delicate eye area. Of course very inconveniently I didn’t actually have puffy eyes when I wanted to review this product, so I can’t comment on reducing puffiness-however I did roll it on to my under eye area on several different occasions-the metal roller ball added a cool feeling and the area did feel nice for quite a while afterwards.
Again, I can see how refreshing this would feel on a hot day! And you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be bringing this little tube along to my next conference (since those are the times when I tend to stay up far to late and get up far to early and experience those dreaded puffy eyes!)
Have any of you tried the Simple Skin Care line yet? What did you think?
