Tax Time is Coming

by Jenn @ Frugal Upstate on January 23, 2013

Ok, I know that thinking about taxes is not fun.  Actually it rots.  I hate the paperwork, the effort and the idea that either a) I have to send in more money to the government or b) I gave them too much money and they’ve been using it as an interest free loan.

But hey-as responsible citizens taxes are just part of the deal!  So why not make the experience as painless as possible?  There are lots of options for how you can get through tax time.  You can hire an accountant.  You can do it yourself with some of the nifty software out there.  You can have a trained tax preparer help you.

Walmart wanted me to tell you about their tax preparation services.  This year, as for many years, Walmart has partnered with H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, and Liberty Tax to bring customers affordable tax preparation services in select Walmart Stores.  You know you’ve seen them before–those little kiosks that pop up in Walmart from now until April 15!  You probably are at Walmart anyway, so why not schedule an appoitnment, walk in or simply drop off your documents and have them prepare your tax return for you?  They can help you with things like downloading your W-2 forms and audit assistance.  Yes, I said the scary word.  Audit.

Once you receive your tax refund, if you don’t have other banking services, you can come on back to Walmart to cash your check for just a $3 fee, have it loaded onto a Walmart MoneyCard or any other favorite prepaid card.
To find your closest Walmart with a tax preparation available, or to learn more about he services, visit their Tax Prep Services page.
