Giveaway: Kiwi Shoe Protector Product Kit

Many of you know that I’m an 11 year US Army veteran.  For all 11 of those years I wore your standard black army combat boots:

In the last 6 years or so they’ve changed the uniform and boots to the sueded desert style-but back in my time we wore the classic black. And if you wear black combat boots, you use black Kiwi shoe polish to spit shine them!

You also light the wax on fire. . . but that’s another story.

So you might say that I have a long standing relationship with Kiwi.  I can’t even NAME another brand of shoe polish!  Kiwi IS shoe polish as far as I am concerned (which is saying a lot because as you all know I am NOT normally a brand loyal type).

And shoe polish is important.  Do you know WHY the Army was big on polishing boots?  Yes-there was a small aspect of pride & attention to detail involved-but the main reason that the Army insisted on polished boots is because it makes them LAST.  A well polished boot has a certain amount of water resistance.  The leather stays supple.  The leather doesn’t crack or split.

By polishing your boots (or your shoes) you protect your investment.

Frugal livings is not only about spending less.  It is also about making what you have last as long as possible.  Kiwi shoe polish and frugal living are a natural combination!

I am thrilled to offer you all the opportunity to win a Kiwi Shoe Protector Product kit!  Included in this kit are:

Kiwi Express Cream Polish-In just a minute give your shoes a great shine, cover scuffs and restore colors-with no buffing!

Kiwi Express Shine Sponge-A great on the go solution!  Clear shine liquid and just a touch of color in the sponge.

Kiwi Suede and Nubuck Cleaner-Remove dirt & dust while conditioning & softening the leather.

Kiwi Suede and Nubuck Protector-Creates an invisible shield of a special polymer that protects your shoes against water stairs so they look newer longer.

Kiwi Fast Acting Cleaner-make your sneakers look like new again by swiftly & effectively removing stains.

The winner will also receive a coupon good for $1 off any Kiwi product!

So now to the fun part-entering the giveaway!

Giveaway: Rubbermaid Drawer Organization Set

Junk drawers.  The bane of many a kitchen.

Kitchen Drawer

We all have them-but we don’t know what to DO with them!  They become an organizational black hole. Things go in, but they never come out.  I know that all that stuff is in there because we are convinced that we might need it. Really. Like tomorrow.

But do we honestly?  Of course not!  If you want to take control of your junk drawer you need to start by going through and weeding it out.  Throw out all that stuff that was already in there when you moved in.  Then take a deep breath and tackle all the pieces of random things that you can’t even identify-and all the bits you can that are obviously broken that you won’t ever get around to fixing “some day”.

Now you have a little less stuff, and you have actually seen what it is.  Of course you could just toss it back in there and hope for the best, but why not go a step better and organize it so you can FIND that pen, or screwdriver, or key when you need it!

Rubbermaid sent me some nifty drawer organizers to try out-an interlocking 6 piece set-and they gave me another set to give away to one of you lucky readers!  The drawer organizers interlock-which helps configure them to various spaces and keeps them from shifting as much when you close the drawers. What a way to get things organized.

Do you need some tips & tricks to get you going? Check out the Junk Drawer Ingenuity Solution on Rubbermaid.com

Now of course you could use my good old frugal method I taught you in  Divide and Conquer – cutting down cardboard boxes to use as organizers-but even I have to admit that there is something very pleasant about opening a drawer and seeing such a nice, matching, interlocking, non skid set of organizers inside.

The drawer organizer set I am giving away consists of three 3×3″, one 3×9″, one 3X12″ and one 6×9″.  You can read the details of the interlocking drawer organizers on the Rubbermaid site-but they only show the picture for the 3×12″ one.

Now on to the fun part-how to enter the giveaway!  Since only one person an win, I do want to let everyone know that there is a $1 off coupon available if you decide to buy your own.

This giveaway will run from today Tuesday March 2nd until midnight, Sunday March 7th.

To enter: Leave a comment telling me the oddest thing you’ve ever kept in your junk drawer

Giveaway: $50 for Great Walmart Game Time Party

January 29, 2010 by Jenn @ Frugal Upstate

I can’t believe the Superbowl is almost here!

Football Stadim

Well, ok, I can’t believe that basketball and football seasons are running simultaneously, with the NASCAR season set to start right on top of that. . .but that’s another issue.

To say I’m not a big football fan would be something of an understatement.  I don’t watch it at all.  If there is a game on and Yankee Bill happens to be watching it, you are more likely to find me curled up next to him on the couch reading a novel (or-let’s be honest-tweeting on my laptop) than screaming along with the game.

But I love an excuse for a party, and what better reason could you have to get your friends together in the middle of the cold, gray, wintry weather here in Upstate New York than a Superbowl Party? Heck, you can talk through the game if you like and just watch the commercials~they are the best part anyway ;)

Having a party can be expensive though-how can you have a great game day on a budget?  Well Walmart is currently running a promotion where they ensure that moms can still provide great snacks for the ultimate SuperBowl XLIV party for $44 or less.

So what can you get for that $44?

-One package of Oscar Mayer Meat Hot Dogs (8 ct.)
-One package of Johnsonville® Bratwursts (6 ct.)
-Two packages of Great Value™ Hot Dog Buns
-Two bags of T.G.I. Friday’s™ Frozen Appetizers
-One Hormel™ Supreme Party Tray
-12” Chocolate Chunk Cookie
-Two boxes of Nabisco Wheat Thins or Triscuit Crackers (8 to 10 oz. box)

Not too shabby!  (sorry-the beer & drinks you are on your own for)

And to help one of my readers out there have a fantastic game day, I’m giving away a $50 Walmart gift card to one lucky winner so they can host their own fabulous Game Time Party!

This giveaway will run from today-January 29th 2010 through 12 PM EST February 2nd 2010
