Summer is the Time for Free Food

July 23, 2008 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 12 Comments

I just love living in a town set in the middle of agricultural country! There is something about the sense of community and the pace of life that is just a bit more old fashioned here. I often comment to folks that I feel like I’m living in Mayberry-and it’s a feeling I enjoy. One… Keep Reading

Raspberries!

July 19, 2008 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 11 Comments

The kiddos and I had a pretty good time this week picking berries at a local U-pick place: Apple Hills Farm. In about an hour and a half I picked over 20 lbs of berries. That was enough to fill up 3 large plastic icecream buckets. I also gorged myself on fresh raspberries straight off… Keep Reading

Where am I?

July 18, 2008 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 5 Comments

Busy getting ready for Buddy’s B-day BBQ. I’ve just had too much to do today. So far today I’ve done two coats of frosting on the cake, hung laundry, frozen 1 cookie tray worth of raspberries, gotten both kids off to summer camp, made a pinata, peeled potatoes for potato salad, biked to the church… Keep Reading

Photo by Marko K I am going raspberry picking at a U Pick farm today. I just love raspberries! Love. Love. Love. And yet, I NEVER buy fresh raspberries in the store. Having grown up with a huge patch at our home (and I mean the patch was bigger than most folks living rooms) I… Keep Reading

OK folks, I’m going to ask you all for some help today. My family wants to take a vacation to someplace warm this winter-probably in the mid February time frame. You see, I believe that Yankee Bill gets seasonal affective disorder in the winter-his mood plummets the longer we go without sun. He gets, well,… Keep Reading

Coming Soon to a Blog Near You-Beans!

June 23, 2008 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 1 Comment

However it will probably be mid afternoon (EST) before the post is up. So spend this morning digging through your archives and exercising your brain thinking of all… Keep Reading
