The New Year has come, and all our thoughts seem to turn to organization. I think it has something to do with a feeling that a New Year equals a New Start!
To honor that spirit of organization, today’s Crafterday video is all about organizing your life with a Life Planner / Binder.
This video was made by 21 yr old youtuber Jill Cimorelli, and shows a bare bones DIY life binder that would be great for teens or young adults. She’s got a lot of personality and some solid ideas on the type of things that need to be organized, but she only provides the general framework, not a lot of premade stuff. That’s great for someone (like my daughter Princess) who just needs to get started thinking about things.
Note: If you aren’t familiar with “YouTubers” as a phenomenon this is a pretty good introduction. It’s basically a blog post done live–so it incorporates more of the life of the YouTube personality then an old school tutorial.  Much like I share bits and pieces of my life with all of you in my posts rather than just giving out information magazine style. This is the medium for teens and young adults–my daughter watches YouTubers, she doesn’t read blogs.
In the video she mentions her cover pages. While you can click through to YouTube as always and see her notes there, for your convenience I grabbed the link to her cover pages.
This video is a year old, so the calendars she provides are for 2015. Not particularly useful now. You can search online for “Free printable calendar 2016” to find one you like. I found a free printable 2016 calendar (portrait so it fits in a binder right) but I didn’t actually download it, so use your discretion.
If you are someone who is more excited about having printable sheets all done out for you–here is a pretty and detailed Free Printable 2016 Planner from Shinning Mommy. It has 25 sheets including goal setting, calendars, weekly view, meal planning, to do lists, items to purchase, cleanings schedules, kids planner pages, beautiful dividers and more. Again, I haven’t personally printed it out.

Thanks for sharing this. Getting someone started on organizing their life at a relatively early age could help them have a better hang of it later in life. Introducing it as something your teen can really make their own helps to make it seem more exciting if organization isn’t necessarily something they get pumped about. With time, though, they’ll come to understand.
