We will be using this recipe to make our own Easter Egg Dye today. I’m planning on trying to use crayons to do a sort of resist technique-but that may or may not work out!
Good luck and Happy Easter!
Food coloring dye
Food coloring
hot water
white vinegar
small bowls or cups
slotted spoon
cooking oil
soft cloth
For each color measure 1/4 tsp. food coloring in small bowl. Add 3/4 cup hot water and 1 tbsp. white vinegar to each color. Add eggs and allow to sit until they are the desired color. Remove with slotted spoon. Polish dry eggs with small amount of cooking oil and soft cloth.

We do a similar thing at my house, but we just use vinegar and food coloring. Barely cover the bottom of a small container with vinegar, add a few drops food coloring and decorate the eggs with Q-tips (or frugal equivalent). Works well and cost is probably one cent for the entire batch. My kids love it. We have not tried “relief” technique, but my oldest will get that in school in 3rd grade. They learn Ukranian egg decorating trchniques.
I did this when I was a kid, but needed to confirm the recipe. I’m looking forward to dying eggs with my grandchildren. Thank you!
