One of the great benefits of Frugality is that it allows you the resources to contribute to church or charities as you see fit.
My church is doing a community Easter Dinner tomorrow. I looked at the sign up sheet of things to donate, and decided that the most frugal thing for me to contribute was 2 doz dinner rolls. I’m sure they expect most folks to run to the store to buy them, but I’m making mine from scratch.
So yesterday I made a batch of refrigerator bread. Buddy “helped” me, which kept him occupied for a while 🙂 It probably took about 45 minutes, if you count getting all the ingredients out, Buddy’s “help” and cleanup (to include scraping the dough off the counter from where I kneaded it). The dough is now in an old icecream bucket (the big family sort) in the fridge. I’ve had to punch it down twice! Later this morning I’ll make 24 rolls and bake them, then run them down to the church this afternoon.
The cost of the ingredients, since I buy most baking goods in bulk, is fairly negligible, and I can rest assured that my rolls taste so much better than the tear apart prebaked ones from the store. Plus, it gave Buddy and I a bit of quality time. A winner all the way around.

Refrigerator bread has become a fixture in our house (thanks to you!) and making the dough is a highlight of our week. Our 4yo dd helps with measuring and is completely fascinated with how yeast works. Much fun!

You keep changing your username on me. I confuse easily!
Glad the dough works so well for you. Food, fun and education all at once. Who could ask for anything more.
