This week was fabulous! We all joined together to share ideas on how to have a fun, frugal Thanksgiving. For those of you joining us late, the topics were:
Frugal Thanksgiving Desserts
Frugal and Fun Thanksgiving Craft/Decorating Ideas
Frugal and Fund Thanksgiving Family Traditions
Frugal Recipes for Thanksgiving Leftovers
Now I promised to pick my own personal favorite from each of the topics. This was really difficult, as there were many wonderful ideas. Yet choices had to be made-so here we go!
Frugal Thanksgiving Side Dishes: There were so many scrumptious sounding side dishes-including a couple for easy, make ahead or space saving crock pot dishes! But Lynn’s (of Lynn’s Kitchen Adventures) recipe for Sweet Potato Spoon bread sounded so unusual, yet so in keeping with thanksgiving that I have to pick it as my favorite idea.
Frugal Thanksgiving Desserts: Again, the entire list of recipes just made me drool. Face it, dessert is the best part of many meals 🙂 But for some reason to me Modern Mommyhood’s Oatmeal Caramel Apple Pie just sounds like it would be to DIE for.
Frugal and Fun Thanksgiving Craft/Decorating Ideas: Debbie sent in a whole list of incredibly frugal and very beautiful sounding Thanksgiving decorating ideas. I’m going to have to try a few next year!
Frugal and Fund Thanksgiving Family Traditions: Although there were a couple of really nice ideas, I thought that Steph at Problem Solving Mom’s list of ideas for keeping the “Thankful” in Thanksgiving had something for everyone. Plus some of her readers had wonderful ideas in the comments as well
Frugal Recipes for Thanksgiving Leftovers: Now we didn’t get as many entries as I had hoped in this category. Maybe you will all hit your stride after Thanksgiving and add some more links. But out of the few I received, the post containing 5 different recipes over at Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom was my favorite. I had been hankering for a Turkey Tetrazzini recipe, and she has one. Plus the Creamy Turkey Pie and Turkey Strata all look wonderful.
Thanks to all who participated in the series-it was a lot of fun!
Now what do you all think-should I do a Christmas series, but at a bit slower rate, say one topic a week? Weigh in with your opinion in the comments!

yes, you should. this week was great, but a little overwhelming all at once, especially with the holiday being this coming week.
Great idea, BTW!dis
great week and yes on the Christmas one, please!
I would love a Christmas one, at a slower pace, and a bit further ahead maybe? Loved this series!!
Jenn- I really enjoyed the series. We team up with other families for Thanksgiving and we fry our turkeys and I don’t end up with leftover turkey and I have not for several years, unless I purchase one to do on a separate occcasion for my oven. We feed many of my husband’s coworkers who have become family thanks to dislocation. We have also introduced Thanksgiving as a regular holiday to his coworkers from the UK. I suggested your website to all of the individuals cooking for our huge feast and I have loved many of the ideas I never would have thought of on my own. So please do an X-mas week or series however you can plan it in 🙂 I actually put up my tree yesterday since my schedual becomes extremely hectic and I really want to enjoy my holiday season. I wish all of your families the best Thanksgiving and thank you for helping save so much money this year. Amyrlin
I love Thanksgiving, and can’t wait for this Thursday! Thank you for the series, I got some really great ideas!
Great ideas, thank you!
Thanks for your series! Sorry I didn’t get to check out your round-up until now. Thanks so much for the link! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
