When I was a kid I would have loved a pair of these real, working night vision goggles! Can you imagine? I would have ruled the night playing hide and seek, tag, and ghosts in the graveyard.
These things are seriously cool. Due to an extremely fortunate shipping error, the wonderful folks at Jakks sent me multiples of this item, so not only do I have a set to give away, and a set for us to play with, but they generously told me to donate the additional 8 pairs to local charities in order to make someone else’s Christmas better. That is one seriously classy company!
Yankee Bill was happy to be the guinea pig for this product. After removing it from the packaging (which was a bit of a feat) he wore them out in the backyard. He said that the amount of ambient light in our backyard was a bit too much-he couldn’t see as clearly as he hoped. But when he took it up to our friend’s land where there aren’t street lights, he was quite impressed. I mean, it isn’t what he and I were used to from using NVG’s in the Army-but I’m quite sure the Army units cost a heck of a lot more. Yankee Bill has claimed the extra pair as his own, and is excited to be able to use them to find his tree stand in the dark this hunting season!
