More Fun Spring Fashion from Walmart

Spring is a season that brings “fresh” and “new” to mind.  Fresh green shoots poking out of the soil.  Trees budding and sending forth new leaves.  After a long dark winter the onset of spring makes a person want to clean up their home, their life and even their wardrobe.

If you are like me, you don’t like to spend a lot of money on yourself for clothing–especially when it’s for things you don’t NEED, but just want.  Like a few new things to freshen up your wardrobe for spring.  Walmart sent me into the store and asked me to pick up a few new things for my own wardrobe refresh.

There were a lot of cute things to be found!  I noticed a trend to the more “feminine” in the ladies department.   Blouses in small floral prints with a flow-y feel.  Maxi dresses, t-shirt dresses, maxi and midi skirts.  And lace–lots of lace!

Fun and colorful fashion for spring

I particularly liked the lace detailing on some of the tank tops–lace around the bottom hem or up at the neck, and some super cute racer back tanks with a lace inset!  I need a bit more, uh, oomph in the under garment department, so that particular style wasn’t going to work on me, but it would be adorable on a teen or someone in their 20’s!

For my own choices, I decided to concentrate on Memorial Day.  Yes–I admit it.  I like to dress for holidays!  However I don’t want to go into the totally cheesy overboard direction–I want something that’s a nod to the occasion while still being “wearable” at other times of the year.  Our town has a lovely parade and solemn ceremony up at the cemetery for Memorial Day every year–I have wanted for the last few years to have something a bit patriotic to wear. . . that would also work for 4th of July and Labor Day!

I decided to get some nice dark denim capri’s by White Stag, and then pair it with a red tank top with white stars screen printed on.  Since it can be a bit chilly here still in late May, I figured a lacy cardigan would go well.  These are all pieces that can be worn with multiple outfits–the capris with darn near anything, the cardigan over a dress or sundress to make it appropriate for church or just to ward off an bit of evening chill, and the tank top can pair with kahki, denim or white shorts.

Spring Fashion at WalmartAs I was making my choices and wandering through the ladies section I found a display of Hanes printed T-shirts.  I thought the graphic prints were bright and fun–and they came in a v neck, which is one of my favorite necklines.  I just had to pick up the fun green flowered and the slightly more “moody” or “edgy” black one.  (Princess though the black was “cool”).  Finally as I was heading back to the dressing rooms to try things on I found another red and white top–this one is a single piece that looks like a tank and cardigan.  It was made of a more silky material with nice drape, so I thought I’d try it on as well.  It looked lovely, so I had to get that as well.

Here I am modeling my choices. I really had wanted to take some nice pictures outside, but it decided to SNOW for the last two days.  Seriously.  Snow.  In April.

Walmart Spring Outfits

What do you think?  I think I need to work out more. . . but otherwise I think they are all quite cute!  Of course the cutest thing in the room was my lovely assistant/photographer. . . Princess.

    Jenn;
    love the outfits; I am always looking for less expensive ways to make my weekend and errand running wardrobe work. The lacy sweater and top would be great at my teaching job as well. I don’t always have to time to spend in the clothing section-you gave me some great things to look for!
    Love your blog-I think we could be friends in real life! You have great ideas!!!!!

    I like the red and white stripe top with ‘built in’ red cardigan. I have some like that and love the look.
