Mmm. Olives. I just love olives. Black ones. Green ones. Those special greek Kalamatas (extra mmm!). Recently Walmart and the folks from Musco Family Olive Co. sent me some of their new “Olives to Go!”.
Delicious olives — all my favorite kinds, Kalamata (120 cal per cup), Black Olives (40 cal per cup), Sliced Black Olives (60 cal per cup), and Stuffed Spanish Olives (80 cal per cup). Aren’t they pretty?
So what’s the big deal about “Olives to Go!”?
This may very well be the biggest innovation for olives since pitting them….Pearls Olives To Go. With gluten-free flavors, dairy-free, sugar-free, cholesterol-free, trans-fat-free, GMO-free, vegan and Kosher what healthier way to snack on the go? Toss some in your car, plane or backpack and you’re off!
These small serving, liquid free, rigid containers with an easy to peel lid are just so dang convenient. I find the size perfect for a mid afternoon snack.
They are a great addition to your lunch box, adding some zip and flavor. We like to pack them with our salad in a jar kits. The nice rigid containers they come packed in ensure that they arrive at the lunch table without getting squished.
Now that the weather is warming up, it’s time for picnics. I think it’s so fun to occasionally throw an impromptu picnic, sort of what I think of as “french style”–just some nice bread, a selection of cheese or meats, and of course some tasty Olives to Go! You can grab everything you need for the picnic spread above from your local Walmart and then head out to a nice park to enjoy. You won’t have to worry about bringing a can opener or draining out any brine–they are all ready to eat with just a peel of the lid.
The black sliced olives are a great size for using in recipes–especially when you are cooking for just one or two. Open a pack and sprinkle them on top of a salad, on your homemade pizza, or use in any recipe calling for black olives.
