Readers Question: No Chill Gingerbread Cookies

Dear Frugal Upstate,

Love the site!  I am a Kindergarten teacher who will be baking Gingerbread cookies with her class this holiday season and would love to use your recipe.  Just a quick question – how many cookies does your recipe make?

Thanks!!!

Melissa

Don't these just say "Christmas"?

Well Melissa, that is a very good question!  Personally I always find the “yield” information on cookie recipes to be wishful thinking.  Really–those recipe testers must be making miniscule little cookies to get 3 dozen or whatever it is out of the recipes like they say.  And with something like “cutout” cookies it is even worse–the yield all depends on the size and shape of the cookie cutters you use.  However in the interest of science (or blogging) I decided that in order to answer your question I needed to whip up a batch of the No Chill Gingerbread Cookies and count the outcome!

So I did!

The result?  One batch gave me about 34 cookies–And those were 1 1/2 inch snowflakes.  Thanks for asking-you made me check and I’ve gone back to edit the recipe so no one else will have to wonder either 🙂

Have fun making cookies with your class!  And remember, I’ve got a video showing you exactly how to make the No Chill Gingerbread Cookies as well!
