Here is a party pleasing appetizer that is sure to be a hit at your next holiday party!

Sausage Balls -- Holiday Entertaining

Walmart asked me to share a favorite party or entertaining food for December.  I have always loved Sausage Balls, but for some reason I had never shared them before.  So here we go!

This is just a “mix it all together and shape it into balls” type recipe–seriously.  You mix it ALL together, form it and bake.  So super simple.  I’ve got a few tips to make it even more simple for you.

1-Use a cookie scoop.  This makes your life way easier and gives you very nice, uniform looking appetizers.  Plus it’s great for making nice uniform drop cookies.  I even used it for making mini drop biscuits for a church potluck a few weeks ago (I made a big crockpot full of sausage gravy and then these adorable little biscuits!)

2-Use your mixer to combine the bulk sausage meat (or link sausages squeezed out of their casings) with all the other ingredients.  This is far easier than trying to mix it with a spoon.

Now it’s at a better height.  (Alternately  you can just stand on a stool)

4-Scoop the batter quickly–don’t bother trying to get pretty balls at first.  Once you’ve got them all scooped out THEN roll them all into balls.  It’s far faster than scoop, roll, scoop, roll.

Then you just bake them until golden brown.

I know the recipes inside are good–when I was down at Walmart HQ in October for the holiday trip we got to sample a whole range of the holiday treats.  So pick up a copy of the flier in store if you didn’t get one in the mail.

    They look great.

Of course, I can’t think of festive, edible Holiday balls without thinking of this classic SNL skit:

I realize my comment is a wee bit late, but I just have to tell you – Sausage Balls were my Aunt Doris’ go-to appetizer, and I adore them! I also adored her, she’s been gone over 20 years now, so when I make and serve them, I honor her memory and feel connected to her – win/win…not to mention that everybody LOVES sausage balls! Thanks for the recipe and the memory!
