Ask Frugal Upstate: What about organics?

It’s time for another “Ask Frugal Upstate” episode! This time regular reader Amyrlin asks what my thoughts are on organic cleaning products and buying organic foods.

What do you think?  How do you feel about the value of organics vs the cost of purchasing them?  If you do use them, what do you do to keep your costs down?

Do you have a question you’d like answered in an “Ask Frugal Upstate” segment? I’d love to hear it! You can leave a comment below, make a comment on the Frugal Upstate Facebook page, or use my contact form.

I consider whether a type of produce is likely to have more or less pesticide residue in deciding if spending more for organic would be worth it. The Organic Consumers Association provides information about this topic at http://www.organicconsumers.org/organic/pesticide-residues.cfm ND.

Hi Jen. Just wanted to let you know I’m with you on the organics. Grow what you can at home, be frugal with what you put in sewers and septic tanks and watch what the little ones ingest as far as residues on their food. The human body has a highly developed cleansing system and if you are healthy you will do just fine. I believe you speak for a large group of people. Thanks!
