I Caved! I totally caved.
I am ashamed to admit that confounded by my own over scheduling, lack of planning and the damp weather, and after a disastrous attempt yesterday to speed the drying of a homemade pinata in the oven (yes, I was pretty sure that it would cause the balloon to explode-even with the oven only on warm. I was just hoping I could catch it at the dry yet not ready to explode point). . . . well, I spent the $11 and bought a Disney Princess Pinata at Wally World last night.
However, that still brings the total for the party only up to $62.50, and I bought it while out on an already scheduled trip into town, so no extra gas wasted.
Ah, such are the trials of motherhood.

The cost of having stuck-on glue and balloon, etc. removed from your oven probably outweighs the $11, so don’t feel guilty. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work. At least now you know you need a lot more drying time, so you can start earlier next year! And a party for under $70 is something to crow about!
Your energy and creativity are astonding! The party is still frugal and the store bought pinata sounds lovely. Please post a picture or two.
Some Pinatas have a pull string. The kids each pull one string and one string actually opens a trap door on the pinata. If you do it right they are very reusable. I have found the kids have a hard time actually hitting a pinata open so the pull string makes it easier too.
Sounds like the party is still very reasonable. Barb
