Best Buy Last Week.

May 16, 2006 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 4 Comments

It is officially spring rummage sale season near me. Signs are popping up all over town, and notices are thick in the paper. I just love it, especially since many of my local churches do a small botique section of the more expensive stuff, then just mark everything else at $.25 an item. Last week the church that has the largest one in town had their sale, and I got my best buy of the year so far.

I got this pair of LL Bean slides, never been worn (you could tell, the footbed is white canvas and there was NOTHING on it), in my size, in pink (although I would have chosen another color) for. . . . .

$.25. They retailed at LL Bean for $29 (and are now in their sale section for $18.95)! I kind of like that they are a color I would not normally have chosen, it forces me to “expand my repitoire.

An associated quick tip-whenever you go to a website to go shopping check their “sale” “outlet” or “overstock” section. I like to check the ones from LLBean, Lands End and Coldwater Creek. You can get some fantastic markdowns because the stuff is last years color or style. That is how I purchased a set of winter snow mocs (like waterproof, insulated sneakers for our slushy winters) for DH and myself for less than $20 each at Christmas last year. (they normally retail for $49-I got DH a pair in black that could be worn to work with his suits)

As always, beware! The lure of sale prices can cause you to buy things you don’t really need. As I always say, if you don’t need it, it isn’t a bargain!

Oh, those are really cute!!! Makes you wonder why anyone would buy something for $29 and never use it, doesn’t it?
I love rummage sales. Last week I got a huge amount of stuff for $10, but the best thing was a bamboo steamer–you know, I think those things run about $30!

Yowza, would you look at the color on that thing! šŸ˜‰

Anyhow, at least summer will be here soon and you’ll be able to wear them.

FG-They are not the color that I would have usually chosen, but I did wear them to church last week with a pink dress that they actually went really well with. . . And I can’t wait for summer to get here-this chill rainy crud we’ve been getting is so depressing. . .
