Books to Keep

February 1, 2006 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate Leave a Comment

I do tend to just get my books from the library. But sometimes you run into a reference book that you really want – a cookbook, craftbook or gardening book in my case. (I bought The Victory Garden Cookbook this way last year-a great resource for anyone with a garden who needs yet another way to cook carrots, or zuchinni or whatever it is you are overwhelmed with that week.)

In those cases I always check the used prices online. My favorite place to look for almost anything is Amazon.com. You can click on the “buy it used” button and frequently find the same book at a deep discount. Barnes and Nobel also has a used option.

If you are interested in trying something different, you might check out “Bookcrossing” which is where you read a book, “release” it in the wild somewhere else, and register it for someone else to go find for free. I haven’t tried this yet, but it sounds sort of fun! And of course-Free!
