Don’t Panic!!!

Don't Panic Button

Every year, a few days before Christmas, I have to borrow this erstwhile phrase from “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”.

This is the point where I look at the pile of presents and stocking stuffers that I have assembled and think:

“Oh no! It’s not enough!”

This is when I have to work really, really hard to resist the impulse to run out to the store and buy a bunch more presents to “fill in” with.

I know I’m not alone.

So I’m reminding all of you, and myself along with you, DON’T PANIC.

Don’t run out and buy “stuff” indiscriminately.  You have worked hard picking out thoughtful gifts already. Random “things” might add to the flurry of wrapping paper flying on Christmas morning, but if they aren’t things that are needed or wanted then it will just be a waste of money.

Don’t buy things that aren’t in the budget!  You have carefully thought out and planned how much money to spend, don’t blow it now on things that really aren’t needed.

Honestly, trust me. When Christmas morning is over there will be more than enough things clogging up the livingroom.  You will think to yourself “see, there really was enough-what was I thinking?”

Just hold tight. We can get through this!  And whatever you do, DON”T PANIC!

Right on! These next few days I can sit back and watch everyone else freak out. I know I’m done and and not at all tempted to go buy even one more darn thing!

I finally stayed in the budget this year, and stuck to my list, unfortunately, my husband indiscriminately went out day before christmas and overbought for a few friends like crazy. I could have wrung his neck.

Oh no! Well-imagine how much worse it all could have been if you hadn’t stuck to your budget.
