I have a cold. One of those cotton head, stuffy nose, not really sick enough to stay in bed but just feel icky type of colds. I didn’t sleep well last night. I woke up for the bathroom because of general achy ness, took a tylenol, went back to bed, woke up a few hours later unable to breathe because my Sudafed wannabe wore off (why can’t these things last the same amount of time?) went back to bed, then woke up for the day inexplicably at 530.
All of this is to say that I got up early and had some extra kiddo free time to cruise the blogosphere and internet. Here are some interesting articles and blogs I found out there:
Feel the Love: The Family CEO mentioned me as one of her top 4 blogs to visit. I am truly honored! I get about 150 hits a day, but not so many of you all comment-sometimes I wonder if my topics are hitting home or not. It is also nice to note that 2 of the other 3 she mentioned (Like Merchant Ships and Tired but Happy) are part of my reads as well. I’ve never checked out One Money Dummy Getting Smarter, but I’ll have to now!
All Financial Matters has some great charts! JLP created some financial calculators, including the retirement savings calculator. He calculated out the amount you would have to save annually each year to amass $1,814,801 by age 65. He starts with a 22 year old, who would have to save $2000 annually (at a rate of return of 10%). If you wait just 5 years and start at 27, you would have to save $3,255 annually. Long story short, start investing for your retirement as soon as possible so that compound interest can work for you. Go look at the whole thing-it’s very interesting!
I’ve also been meaning to mention the blog “The Space Between My Peers“. Rebecca describes herself as being “at the bottom of the fashion food chain”. Her blog is focused on fashion. She has a lot of great articles on what types of fashion look good on what types of bodies, as well as what types of wardrobe pieces are timeless. Although she is not specifically a frugal blog, she does try to be frugal, so a lot of her posts deal with how to save money with fashion. A good read for anyone trying to save money and still look like a million bucks.
Wenchypoo over at Wenchypoo’s Warehouse has a quick blurb with a link to an article explaining about Ethanol as a fuel (Myths and Realities). The link at her site is broken (although her site in general is a good read) so here is the link to the Yahoo News article itself.
Well, that should keep you busy for a while.
*******edited to correct the numbers in the All Financial Matters Paragraph. My fat fingers inverted two digits.*******

Jenn,
Thanks for the mention. I’m glad you liked that post!
There’s a slight error in your paragraph about AllFinancialMatters.com. The retirement goal should be $1,184,801.
Thanks,
JLP

I love reading your blog because you offer such helpful tips and also direct me to so many other cool and interesting blogs. Thanks so much!
And good luck with the cold. I can to the wannabe sinus meds. I have self-disagnosed chronic sinus pain…wake up with it daily. I’ve tried so many different kinds of OTC meds, but I don’t want to make myself immune to their affects, so I’m taking a break for a while and just tolerate the pain. *sigh*
By the way, thank you for linking to me!
Hey, I’m sorry you’re not feeling well.
I was planning on adding your blog to my frugal links next time I update, and then I noticed you show up multiple times in my sitemeter. Thanks so much for the lovely mention!
I’m glad to be learning about other mothers who are blogging about money. Thanks for the mention!
