Festival of Frugality #32 Review.

July 26, 2006 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 1 Comment

Welcome to my review of the 32 Festival of Frugality for 2006! I just love having the opportunity each week to read all of the interesting articles that different folks have written on frugal topics. This week there are 24 articles to read, and Penny at “Money and Values” has done them in the form of limericks! How fun.

Here are 6 of them that really spoke to me for one reason or another:

At “The Good Human” there is an article on Top 10+ ways to help the environment and save money. I find this very interesting because lately I have been thinking about the connection between ourselves and the enviornment, and how to balance all of that with Frugality. I haven’t come to any decisions or made any changes yet, I’ve just been thinking about it.

Free Money Finance talks about how keeping your curtains closed can really help beat the heat this summer.

Stephanie at “The 100 Acre Wood” discusses how to teach kids about frugality. My only real money lessons for Princess and Buddy consist of simply talking about the fact that things cost money, and that Papa goes to work to make the money we use for things. Oh, and when we go to the local 5 & 10 I limit each of them to 5 pieces of penny candy-if they pick out 6 I make them put something back. That is to teach them that you can only use as much money as you have. How do you do it?

Wenchypoo over at Wenchypoo’s Warehouse has a very educational look at water as a resource. Being frugal dovetails into being environmentally conscious on this one. This article is more philosophical than “how to”.

My Money Blog has a link to places that give you free food on your birthday! Bookmark it and make a note in your calendar to check back before each person in your family’s birthday!

How to Save Money on Gas at Free the Drones includes 3 links to gas price comparison sites. These are really cool-you can enter your zipcode and get gas prices as reported by folks in your area. Great way to see where you can save the most without driving all over town and wasting gas!

Have fun reading.
