This weeks Festival is over at Free Money Finance, and has 19 entries. Yet again I didn’t get a post in (I really have to be more organized about this! Think of all the wonderful frugality readers out there who may not have found me yet!)
Here are a few of my favorites. Of course they are all worth reading, so head on over there and check them all out.
Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount at Five Cent Nickel is a great idea of what to do when a sale item is out of stock. I never would have thought to ask for a discount on the next higher model-but apparently stores have an unpublicized policy on this sort of thing!
At Then Things, a new blog for me, there is a nice article entitled “Embrace the Cheapness”. First off, I just like the title 🙂 I’m a sucker for a catchy title. But I also like what she has to say about how it feels to be frugal in a non-frugal world. Sometimes it is just nice to know we aren’t alone.
Wow, FIREfinance (another new to me site) has a link where you can register for the entertainment guide online for FREE! I paid for my local guide last year, and then I haven’t even used many of the coupons (this year DH and I just haven’t gone out to eat as much, busy busy people!) Next year I think I’ll follow this lead and just sign up for free!
Frugal Babe is a new frugality blogger. She has a post on gardening (a personal hobby of mine as loyal readers know) I really like her point that a garden doesn’t have to be pretty to be productive. Plus she just has a nice looking blog-cool design!
Again with a cute title “Slaying your Energy Vampires” over at Money and Values is a good read. Personally, I can’t seem to convince DH that leaving the powersave on is a waste of energy-but some of you might not have that problem 🙂
Well, I’m running out of time. Buddy has to get to nursery school. But there are a few other articles that I haven’t read yet that look particularly good (cut an pasted wholesale from the actual carnival):
Are You Really Saving? You May Be Wasting Instead! – Here is one place where it’s possible to be too frugal. There, I said it; “Too Frugal”.
Get Rewarded If You Shop for Clothes – You can get rewarded if you shop for clothes. There’s a nice little survey program that I know of that offers you nice rewards in return for a little information on the clothes you’ve purchased.
And
Ham It Up! – The moral of this story is to either avoid buying seasonal holiday items or else be prepared to go out and buy more after the event is over. You’ll generally find a good deal, especially if the expiry date of the food items starts to get a bit closer.

Hey Jenn, just checking my stats and saw someone dropping by.
I thought I’d offer some friendly teasing, and remind you to get your post in there! 😉
Like I’m one to talk… I just discovered the whole concept a couple of days ago. What rock have I been hiding under?
Thanks a lot for mentioning our post in your round up :). SBC’s deal is really nice and we have used the coupons whenever we dine out. Hopefully it will help you when you need it.
Take care,
FIRE Finance
Thanks for the links! I always enjoy this.
You are all welcome!
Great links, thanks
