~Dawn over at Frugal for Life is always so creative! (yes, the ~ is part of her username) This week she used May Day as a theme for the 72nd Festival of Frugality . For each her “Top 10” entries she posted pictures of flowers and interesting quotes next to them as teasers for each article for the other 17 she did a bulletized list of the post titles down at the bottom. That gives a grand total of 27 entries this week.
There is nothing from me as I was simply recovering from last weeks stress and didn’t even think about entering!
As always, here are a few entries that caught my eye:
Blogging Away Debt (hmm-they seem to have a new template-it must have been a while since I stopped by!) talks about “Getting Coupons for the Products You Use“. I totally sympathize with her statement:
“I quit buying the paper because I didn’t save enough money with coupons to
justify purchasing the paper. Well, it turns out there may be a way to get
coupons for the products that you use!”
She picked up a great tip from the Dollar Stretcher-and I’m going to have to try it out! Head on over to check out what it is (I’m not going to tell you, you have to go read the article.)
At Consumerism Commentary, Flexo has an article about buying generic/store brand (this is a personal finance blog, not strictly frugality). He comments on which items he sees as being just as good as the name brand. Personally I am not particularly brand loyal on many things (although YB prefers a few particulars, like Crest toothpaste and Edge shaving cream. And hey-isn’t he worth it? and I pretty much want either diet Pepsi or Coke if I’m bothering to buy a cola for myself-not that I drink them that often). The one thing I do feel is that quality clothes last much longer-but I personally like to buy my high name quality clothing second hand!
Dumb Money Mistake. Don’t you just have to check out an article that is listed with that name?
Willster’s Financial Blog has a post on whether pay as you go phone plans are cheaper or not. Since YB and I are considering this option when our current 2 year plan runs out in June, I was very interested to read what he said.
Well, those are just a few that caught my eye. As always, head on over and check out all of the wonderful articles.

Yeah, I did change things around a little with my template 🙂
So far, so good with getting coupons. The ones I received from Dannon are great ($5.00 worth!).
Thank you for the link!
Just a side bote – we use Virgin Mobile PAYG. If you set up automatic payments you can get them for as low as $5 per month. We rarely use our cell phones so we never use more than the required $5 per month.
