This week’s Festival of Frugality is over at Frugal for Life. There are 40 entries in this weeks festival, and ~Dawn used a cute “newspaper” story format.
Here are a few that jumped out at me this week, along with my thoughts on them:
Leah is a new blogger over at Suddenly Frugal. Here article on “Green Living is Good for the Pocketbook” I especially agree with her points about paper and water bottles. Personally, we reuse paper for lists, home printing, and Princess’s artwork. And believe me, Princess’s artwork alone could use up a ream of paper a month.
Cheap Healthy Good has a plethora (oh, I just love it when I get a chance to use SAT words) of links to free online cooking VIDEOS. Lets face it, some things just make more sense when you get to watch someone else do it. Since cooking at home is a major way to save money, these are great sites to help on your journey to frugality.
My Money and My Life talks about the “Use It Up” portion of the old frugal standby ““Use it up, use less, make do, or do without”. I love how a lot of things about frugality are really just learning to think differently-like using a spatula to get the last of the mayo out of the jar. That doesn’t take a lot of effort, but shows worlds of difference in attitude between a frugalite and spendthrift.
The Simple Dollar has a list of things under $1 to keep your kiddos entertained. We do several of these-for example my living room is frequently redone by Buddy and Princess into a cushion and blanket fort. Does anyone but me notice that most of these activities also promote interaction between the parent and child? Hmmmm, could it be that frugality and good parenting go hand in hand 😉
Free Geekery has a 13 ways to speed up your computer without spending any money. Our desktop has recently gotten very, very slow. We’ll be trying these tips. Actually, as soon as I am done with this article, I’m heading down to start a defrag on the hard drive. . .
That’s just a sampling of the articles offered this week. Head on over to Frugal for Life for the entire festival. She is also hosting next week, so stay tuned!

Thanks for the link! If you have any cool use it up tips, leave a comment on my post, please!
Wow cool thanks again!! Your blog amazes me it is so wonderful!!! Annette
story girl-will do!
Annette-Why thank you! And thank you as well for your frequent and helpful comments. I’m so glad that you enjoy the site. Since this blog takes up quite a bit of time, and is something I don’t get any kind of payment for, hearing from readers who appreciate it really is my payment (and means a lot)!
Jenn, thanks for the link! I keep coming to your site, and really dig it.
Well that could all change because, it is a great blog. Mary Hunt started Cheapskate Monthly as a paper newsletter due to her past financial mishaps( I was told). She also did lots of books. You could do books and charge for your blog. All good things are possible. Why not?? Thanks Your advice is useful and people need more books ect.. to help them. Annette Inflation is ridiculous!!!!
