I rarely order online these days-but I do occasionally like to check out the “Overstocks” or “Clearance” sections of a few favorite retailers.
I particularly like to buy well made classic pieces from places like LL Bean, Land’s End, Eddie Bauer etc. The quality is good, the warranties are usually exceptional (I’ve returned items to LL Bean after using them for over 7 years and been given replacements) and since they are classic and not trendy-they don’t go out of style.
(Note: Lands End, in their overstocks section has an “Imperfects” section in the right hand sidebar for factory seconds that are even further discounted. Of course there are a correspondingly lower number of items)
You can find some good bargains, but I often wonder if it is worthwhile given the cost of shipping and handling.
Enter today’s email alert from Land’s End:
FREE SHIPPING ON ANY ORDER OF ANY SIZE NOW THROUGH MAY 1ST! Just enter your source code FLOWERS and the PIN 898216797 on the “Billing Information” page below the credit card payment box when you check out.
Land’s End’s overstock page allows you to sort by cost. When I sorted all overstock items by $10 or less, there were 684 items.
Remember though, it isn’t a savings if you don’t need it!
(on the flip side-Mother’s Day is coming up. . . . . . )

I am so disappointed. I applied to Land’s End again and was rejected again (for their affiliate program). Honestly, I feel a little hampered in talking about modest swimwear without having access to their site. In the past, and I don’t remember if they were one of the ones that said it or not, I have been told that if I wasn’t an affiliate I was not to even link to their site.
Oh well. At least I have Eddie Bauer.
Just tried the Land’s End free shipping coupon code and pin and it did not work. You may want to remove…
This was from April of 2007-so it is almost a year old. Sorry
Lands End has a $25 off $100 order thru April 29, 2008 – only one day left 6046301270096806 pin 83211443 – you enter this in the Gift Certificate/Gift Card payment area. I just used it and it worked.
