Monday night’s Frugal Coast2Coast is on the ever popular matchup: Frugal vs Cheap!
This show should be a lot of fun. We will start by sharing some of our best “cheap” stories. I hope many of you will call in and share yours-I know that there are some good ones out there!
Next we will move on to some classic “Frugal or Cheap” questions. Some examples: Regifting? Taking extra ketchup packets? Wearing an outfit and returning it?
What are some of your favorite “cheap” stories? Do you have a good “Frugal or Cheap” question we can use on the show? Please share!

When I lived overseas I knew a young airman who always took extra ketchup packets and mustard from the food court (on the military complex). He NEVER, EVER bought that stuff and always had a ready supply. Personally I was horrified–I looked at it as stealing.
I think it’s easy to label something as cheap vs. frugal, depending on your personal values. For me, it would be unethical to wear a clothing item and then return it, unless there’s truly something wrong with the item.
I’d love to hear a discussion of regifting “rules,” for example, never in the same circles (ie, if you got the item from family, re-give at the office).
I think the extra condiment one is hard. If someone took 1 or 2 extra each time-personally I’d be ok with it. Handfuls? No!
I just listened the show–it was great! Thanks for mentioning my comment–yes, we were attached to the USAF overseas in Korea.
And I agree with you–if you take 1 or even 4 planning to eat the condiment with your meal and don’t actually eat all 4 packets, it’s fine to take that home. (They just throw it out otherwise.)
Looking forward to next week!
