Well, everything except the downstairs half bath is painted in the new house. All but one of the new light fixtures is up, and we’ve got about 1/3 of the house scrubbed clean. The intent is to start moving this weekend-hopefully.
We want to move the bedrooms and kitchen down first, then we’ll live out of there and continue to move the stuff from our old house. I am looking forward to this for 2 reasons.
#1-I’m starting to chomp at the bit to get down there.
#2-I’ve had to stop working each day to get the kiddos home, fed (although sometimes we’ve eaten down there) and to bed by 7:30. Once we get down there I can put the kiddos to bed and then keep working on stuff.
Oh-and most of the stuff left to do is little stuff-touching up the paint in each room where the painters tape pulled up a bit around doorframes etc. Painting the cast iron heat registers with black metal paint (they are pretty banged up), touching up more woodwork, etc etc. Then of course there will be all the moving in stuff to do-hanging pictures, unpacking things and finding a home.
I’ll try to post some more pictures soon.

I’m glad to hear it’s coming along, can’t wait to see some pictures!
More pictures! I really like your blog by the way. You have a unique voice.
It will be nice to do it a little at a time. Glad it is coming along!

Congrats on your major undertaking! We moved into our home 3 years ago and did the same as you- had the wiggle room to get the painting and such done.
We hired movers though and moved in on one fell swoop. It went exceeding well- the kids went with grandparents for the day while we directed traffic and readied the critical things— bathrooms, beds, and the kitchen.
Keep up the good work!! Annette
