I changed my template! After months of hemming and hawing, it actually was fairly painless.
Of course, I have lots of moving and editing and improving to do. I need to update the colors, and fix the text (the light orange that showed up so nicely on the dark green looks lousy on white. . . . ) and I would really like to have a picture banner, etc etc etc. . .. but it is a start! I’ll post later about how I actually did it, and which template I used, and how I avoided losing all my extra “stuff” that I had added in. . . . there is a small trick I used for that (one that anyone could figure out)
More later, have to brush the old mop and get Buddy to nursery school. Oh, and brushing my teeth before breathing on anyone would probably be a good idea. . . . .

Wow!!! Now that I see your changes, maybe I’ll join your contest… I’m excited to see what else you will do!
It looks great. Nice job.
I don’t like it. I liked the other format better.
Oh Jenn, congratulations!
But I liked the green. Somehow the former colors were associated in my mind with frugality, gardening, being sensible, and generally comfortable. Maybe I just associated those qualities with you, but a couple of my friends had used that template briefly before settling on another one and I had the same reaction.
Did you have an emotional response when I moved from the coral w/ brown to the green w/ gray?
Honestly I like the 3 columns-I don’t think most folks ever scrolled down far enough to see most of the stuff before. But I think the colors etc on this look much more “sterile”. I’m going to have to see what I can do about that. I’d prefer something softer and not so “techno” looking.
I like the 3 columns too. That is one of the things I like about the one you suggested for me.
Changing your colors should be fairly easy, I did it all the time on my blogger blog. Even if you just changed the colors of the links from “loud gaudy blue” to “deep forest green”. (He hee. Sorry. I still have Anne of Avonlea dialog stuck in my head.) I like the green they turn on “hover”.
I like the layout a lot more now. But I agree, a bit more color might be nice. Not too much — sort of like the off-whites you use to paint a room.
Love the new look! You did a great job!
Geesh, no warning… I thought I was on the wrong site. Confused me for a sec.
I have to agree with the color comments. Beige and red are kinda blah… I agree with rebecca about the green and it going with earth friendly frugality… this particular template lacks the characteristics that I associate with who YOU are 🙂
I do like the 3 column format much better.
And you have to listen to me. ‘Cause I’m your sister, that’s why!
Amanda-Well, if you had been reading my blog REGUARLY you would have KNOWN that I was getting ready to change my template (hee hee hee) Just kidding-you know I love ya sis. I’m just jealous that you got to go to New Zealand!
I’m still futzing around with the colors. Honestly I’ve seen a ton of WPress templates with 3 columns that I love, but I’m sort of afraid to migrate and loose everyone. . . .
Amanda – that is hilarious!
When I changed to the theme that Jenn found for me, everyone liked the layout and the colors, but we weren’t sure about the graphics. Enter my sister. She knows me and, as much as I love and appreciate the regular readers, her opinion carries alot of weight with me.
