Happy Thanksgiving to all! Hope you enjoy your day of turkey, family, football and parades! The Frugal Upstate household is heading over to Nana’s house (literally about 5 min away) for Thankgiving dinner at around 3 o’clock.
I did want to take just a minute to think about what I am thankful for. I am thankful for my wonderful husband. Although we do occasionally get on each other’s nerves, I love him with all my heart and can’t imagine living life with anyone else.
I am thankful that I have two healthy, bright, inquisitive children who make each day a joy and a challenge (although some days are a lot more challenge!).
I’m thankful for my whole family, and especially for the fact that I was able to see so many of them last week at my niece’s christening.
I am thankful that although my sister Bick is deployed to Iraq, that she is at this point healthy and safe.
I am thankful that we have a nice, snug house in a good community near family and friends, and that DH was able to get a good job here.
I am thankful for the many good friends we have made, many of them in our years in the Army, and for the surprisingly large number of them that take the time to stay in contact and stay a part of our lives.
Thank you God for giving me all of these blessings in my life.

Well, with Nana just a few minutes away…I guess there was no going “over the river and through the woods,” LOL! Sounds like you have a lot of blessings. I’m glad to hear your sister is doing well over in Iraq and hope she comes home safe and sound.
PS–thanks for commenting over at my blog. If I really was having a cookie party, of course you could come! We could pack up a box of cookies for your sister! Alas, they couldn’t be spritz cookies–I don’t think the butter would survive a trip in that heat! (Many years ago, my mother sent my brother and angel’s food cake–to Vietnam. He wrote back and said ‘thanks, but by the time it got here, it had turned green’!)
Thanks M2F. Yes, you really do have to consider carefully what types of food you send over there. Although I love making homebaked stuff, a lot of it either spoils, or winds up as squished crumbs by the time they get over there! However, I may bake up some Biscotti for her. That stuff is like a brick, but a yummy brick.
Happy Thanksgiving, Jenn & family!
